For those considering applying for a teaching position at Father Gamache
Memorial School, this section will provide you with some useful bits of
information that help make your decision an informed decision.
Salaries at F.G.M.S. are kept in line with teachers working under the
Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF) umbrella. Below, you will find a

In addition to the basic salary, a northern allowance is provided. The
northern allowance recognizes increased costs for those who come with a partner
and/or dependents. For a single person, the northern allowance is $4,500.
For a teacher with partner and/or dependent, the allowance is $6,500.
Housing is provided for teachers at a nominal cost. Rental of
teacherages is $400 a month. Rental includes the cost of heat,
power and water. Telephone costs will be at your expense.
Telephone service is provided to our community through SaskTel.
Teacherages come fully furnished and equipped. All you will need
to bring are your clothes, books and entertainment systems and any specialty
items that you need to feel at home. You will be provided with
a 700 pound freight allowance to move your personal effects from Saskatoon
or Prince Albert to Fond Du Lac.
Travel to the community is provided by the Education Authority. A return
flight for you and for your partner and/or dependents to either Prince Albert or
Saskatoon, is paid for at Christmas. And of course, flights out at the end
of the school year are also provided by the Education Authority upon the
completion of your teaching contract. Flights are
currently booked using the Transwest Air service which flies daily to and from the
community.
